Audience (Sarah)

The audience for our film

The demographics of our audience:
  • 17-25 years old - The use of a pub, drinking, loud music and drink driving have connotations with a younger generation rather than older.
  • Aimed at students.
  • Male and female - could be more aimed at girls as the characters are female.
  • B/C1 income - I think this would be best for our film due to the props involved. For example the cars used, the use of an iphone rather than a cheaper phone.
B middle class intermediate managerial, administrative or professional
C1 lower middle class supervisory or clerical, junior managerial, administrative or professional

psychographics of our audience:
  • Interested in the genre of drama
How the film will appeal to the audience:

Content of film: We are using young (18 year old) characters who have been drinking and have had a night out. This would appeal to our audience as they can relate to the situation.

Genre - We've classified the genre as 'drama' as it contains a realistic plot and the serious issue of drink driving. This is why we have targeted young people as after researching into this issue on the AA website (http://www.theaa.com/newsroom/news-2013/summer-drink-drive-2013.html) it is shown "Young car drivers (aged 17-24) had more drink drive accidents per 100 thousand licence holders and per billion miles driven than any other age group."

Place of exhibition/viewing platform - Online - Our target audience is a generation of who are the most likely to be using the internet which is why our short film could be released online which also has the benefit of being cheap or even free. It could also be shown in somewhere such as an independent cinema.

  1. Can you avoid using the term 'Drama' for genre? This isn't a genre for our purposes as it doesn't have defined conventions that you can use or compare yours to. Drama is simply a category used by TV channels, dvd stores etc for classifying a film that can't be classified by a genre! You can say that it doesn't easily fit a genre classification, like many short films, or consider what other elements might fit other genres.
