How lighting and saturation is changed in the car scene
Within using Final Cut Pro there is an editing section called '3-way-colour-correction'. Here you can change the whites, mids, blacks and saturation of a shot. For the car scene I needed to light some of the shots up with a higher contrast to make the characters more visible on screen. This made the lighting adjust however still keeping the dark background to show it's night time.
I also changed the saturation slowly in each shot to give the effect that the situation is slowly turning more and more negative and serious.
